Marina Abramovic

Nice Marina Abramovic discussions in both 9a & 11a this week. I was going to post the trailer for Fight Club, to see if you found a kinship there... but, hahaha, wound up with Lady Gaga instead! :)

  2. This woman made me dig deep into my brain and question who i am as a person. I wont get into detail, at least not on a public forum. I believe her piece Rythym 0 did have something to do with facing her fears, but to me the stonger impact of that work was how the audience reacted. I wasnt sickened about how she put herself in front of her fears, i was sickened about the the thoughts that ran through my mind to do, if i were to be present there. I would love (have loved) to have seen her "The Artist Is Present" work. She intrigues me, turns me on, makes me sick to my stomach and grateful to be alive, all at the same time.

  3. PS.. This Lady Gaga interview just totally won me over. I can admit i was biased and a bit.. ahem.. elitist to say "I like lady gaga".. but..
her music is amazing and as i said, this interview won me over. Lady Gaga = Amazing.

  4. So awesome having you in the class this semester Brandon! I'll be teaching Art100 at Cypress in the fall on Tuesday nights from 6-9pm. Drop by anytime. Probably the 2nd week we'll go to the beach for a plaster casting project if you want to come try it.

I'll be over at CSULB on TuTh from 9:30 thru most of the afternoon if you ever want to drop by class there or come to OH.

    On facebook I'm Glenn Zucman
In Second Life I'm Lothar Leborski

I think you have my email. I think THIS blog will become the Tuesday night class blog in the fall, so if you drop by you can read new stuff or leave new comments. If you're going to do the occasional blog post I'll keep you on the sidebar so the new kids can see what you're up to.

Someone suggested trying to do the Venice painting as a group next time... I probably won't make that mandatory... but I like trying to organize a time when a bunch of us could meet up there and maybe work on a big wall.

Have a great summer! Talk soon!

  5. Simply from this video alone, I find Marina to be rather amazing. She seems to question the bounds of social interaction and causes all that come in contact with her work to do the same. She does seem to be facing fears, but she makes us question our own as well. Many might find her simply insane, but I don't see it that way at all. She's living her life and pushing limits. She's questioning societal norms and we should too. Both Marina and Gaga are exceptional artists that cause one to ask questions that are not commonly asked and even less commonly answered.
